Authorities have charged a man who appeared at an Edson school, where he threw beef jerky and shouted Bible verses at students before firing a cap gun at the principal.
Erratic Behavior at School
RCMP officers from Edson, located about 1.5 hours west of Edmonton, responded to reports of unusual activity at a local school on Tuesday. Witnesses observed the man hurling beef jerky and reciting Bible verses toward students outside the building.
Investigators state that the school principal confronted the individual, prompting him to produce a cap gun and discharge three shots in the principal’s direction. He then fled the scene in a vehicle. No students witnessed the firearm incident.
Police Pursuit Across Highways
Officers swiftly identified and tracked the suspect’s car as it sped west along the Yellowhead Highway, also known as Highway 16. A multi-unit chase followed, supported by a canine team and aerial units.
The vehicle eventually veered onto secondary roads north of the highway before halting on a private farm east of Hinton. The driver emerged and submitted to arrest without further incident.
Charges Against Suspect
The 39-year-old man from Dawson Creek, British Columbia, faces multiple charges, including mischief, dangerous driving, fleeing from police, and use of an imitation firearm.
