The United States men’s ice hockey squad rallied to defeat Denmark 6-3 on Saturday, maintaining momentum toward their first Olympic gold medal since 1980.

Second Straight Win for NHL-Studded Roster

Featuring top National Hockey League talent for the first time since 2014, Team USA notched their second tournament victory following a 5-1 opening triumph over Latvia.

First Period Drama

Denmark struck first through Nick Olesen, but Matt Boldy quickly equalized for the Americans. A stunning goal from Nicholas B. Jensen at center ice gave the Danes a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Second Period Surge

Brady Tkach of the Ottawa Senators leveled the score early against Denmark goaltender Mads Sogaard at Milan’s Santagiulia Arena. Jack Eichel followed with a precise wrist shot after assisting on Tkach’s tally. Noah Hanifin then scored his first Olympic goal less than a minute later, pushing the lead to 4-2. Phillip Bruggisser responded for Denmark, narrowing the gap to 4-3.

Third Period Clincher

Auston Matthews recovered a loose puck to assist Jake Guentzel’s powerful shot, extending the advantage to 5-3. Jack Hughes capped the scoring with a skillful deke around a defender, banking the puck off backup goalie Frederik Dickow’s pad for the final 6-3 margin.

Team USA faces Germany next in Group C action on Sunday.
