Iran has launched retaliatory strikes across the Middle East, firing two missiles toward Cyprus—a key British holiday destination and home to a major UK military base.
Defence Secretary Issues Stark Warning
Defence Secretary John Healey warns that Iran now lashes out in an increasingly indiscriminate manner following recent US and Israeli operations. The attacks occurred yesterday, February 28.
Speaking on Sky News’ Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, Healey revealed that Iranian missiles and drones landed within a few hundred yards of approximately 300 British troops stationed at a base in Bahrain.
Missiles Directed at Cyprus
Officials confirm two missiles headed toward Cyprus, where thousands of UK personnel are based. Healey stated: “We don’t believe they were targeted at Cyprus, but nevertheless it’s an example of how there is a very real and rising threat from a regime that is lashing out widely across the region.”
Additional strikes hit an airport in Kuwait as well as hotels in Dubai and Bahrain, highlighting the broadening scope of Iran’s response.
