A 71-year-old pedestrian struck by a vehicle Saturday evening in Montreal’s Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough has died in hospital.
Details of the Collision
The incident occurred around 7:20 p.m. on Grenet Street near De Mesy Street, between two intersections, as the man attempted to cross the road. Montreal police spokesperson Manuel Couture indicated that the pedestrian may have suffered a medical emergency and collapsed onto the roadway before an oncoming vehicle struck him.
Driver and Response
The driver, a 59-year-old man, could not stop in time to avoid the collision. He sustained no injuries but received treatment for shock following the crash. Emergency services transported the pedestrian to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
