A 15-year-old boy faces charges of attempted murder following a knife attack on a teenage girl at a secondary school in the UK. The incident prompted a full lockdown and armed police response.
Court Appearance Details
The teenager appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on Friday, dressed in a dark jumper and tracksuit bottoms. He stood in the secure dock under guard by three security officers and confirmed only his name, address, and date of birth. No pleas were entered on the counts of attempted murder and possessing a blade on school grounds.
Prosecutor Josephine Jones outlined that both the suspect and victim attend Thorpe St Andrew School as 15-year-olds. Emergency calls flooded in on Wednesday, leading to an immediate lockdown and deployment of armed officers.
“CCTV from the toilet area captured a male in all black attire, including a black mask, holding a carving knife with a long blade,” Ms. Jones stated. “The victim suffered a stab wound to the back.”
The suspect fled but officers arrested him nearby. District Judge Matthew Bone enacted reporting restrictions to shield the identities of the boy and girl. The judge remanded the youth to detention facilities, scheduling the next hearing for April 10 at Norwich Crown Court.
The boy’s father watched proceedings from a seat near the dock and grew emotional, using tissues to wipe tears as the hearing concluded.
School Incident Response
Officers arrived at Thorpe St Andrew School on Laundry Lane at 10:24 a.m. Wednesday after reports of a girl stabbed. Paramedics transported her to hospital with minor injuries; she has since recovered and been released.
