The abrupt nature of his dismissal left him feeling blindsided.
BBC’s Defence and Contractual Stance
The BBC, in response to the controversy, defended its decision. Officials stated that the final coaching line-up for the fifth season was confirmed only the day before the announcement, and that Sir Tom’s representatives had been informed prior to the public reveal.
