Political commentator Bill Maher sustained an injury during a high-energy NBA matchup when a Los Angeles Lakers player collided with his courtside seat at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
The Collision
In the Sunday afternoon game between the New York Knicks and the Lakers, guard Marcus Smart dove for a loose ball and crashed into Maher near the floor. Both appeared hurt in the incident. Maher displayed an injured finger to the ESPN broadcast, while Smart favored his left hand after missing a corner three-point attempt.
Smart briefly left the game but returned to finish, continuing to show signs of discomfort.
Maher’s Reaction and Game Continuation
Maher’s injury seemed minor, as he remained in his courtside position for the rest of the contest.
Lakers Secure Victory
The Lakers defeated the Knicks 110-97, marking the fourth time this season they limited an opponent to under 100 points. Luka Doncic led with 35 points, eight rebounds, and four assists in LeBron James’ absence.
Smart finished with five points on 1-for-10 shooting, including 0-for-5 from three-point range, along with four assists and two steals.
