A 30-year-old man, Bar Asraf, died by suicide last Saturday beside the grave of his girlfriend, Liron Barda, who was murdered during the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks. Asraf shot himself at the cemetery in Elkana, located in the West Bank. Emergency services were called to the scene, but he was pronounced dead.

A Devastating Discovery

Asraf was found by his sister, Lehi, who described the harrowing moments leading up to her discovery. The family had been attending another brother’s wedding when Asraf reportedly left, feeling lonely. After some time passed, Lehi and her older sister decided to look for him, first checking common places before heading to Liron Barda’s grave, a spot Asraf often visited to feel close to her.

“Suddenly I see him lying next to Liron’s grave,” Lehi recounted to Israeli outlet Walla. “I told him, ‘Get up, what are you doing again?’ Then I realized he was covered in blood.
