A 50-year-old former television producer, Dylan Dawes, faces conviction after a court found him guilty of possessing and making indecent images of children. The case involved thousands of such images, including 192 of the most severe category A type.
Trial Evidence and Findings
During a four-day trial at Cardiff Crown Court, authorities recovered more than 6,200 indecent images from four devices belonging to Dawes. Experts extracted 5,794 images from his hard drive, which included the most serious depictions of children. An additional 483 images appeared on the devices, among them seven category A files.
Dawes conducted Google searches for terms like “jailbait,” and all indecent images resided in a computer folder labeled “Dylan Account.” His Gmail account faced suspension nearly one month prior to his arrest on February 28, 2022.
Defense Claims and Verdict
Dawes maintained that he permitted colleagues to access his devices and hard drive for professional tasks, insisting another individual downloaded the material. Despite this defense, the jury convicted him on all six counts after reviewing the evidence spanning approximately 16 years of activity.
Sentencing for Dawes is scheduled for a future date.
