Finneas and Claudia Sulewski’s Star-Studded Wedding in Montecito

Published on

Musician and producer Finneas O’Connell, widely recognized for his collaborations with sister Billie Eilish, married longtime partner Claudia Sulewski on Saturday in a picturesque ceremony held in Montecito, California. The event drew a notable guest list, including Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey, who were among those celebrating the couple’s union at the San Ysidro Ranch.

A Celebrity Gathering for Finneas and Claudia

The wedding of Finneas, 29, and Sulewski, 30, was a significant occasion attended by numerous figures from the entertainment industry. Justin Bieber, 32, shared glimpses of the celebration on Instagram, posting photos of himself alongside his wife, Hailey Bieber, 29. The couple appeared to be in high spirits, with Justin opting for a classic black suit and tie, complemented by sunglasses, while Hailey showcased a chic lime green gown with a low-cut neckline. Her hair was styled back, and she carried a beige umbrella, presumably for sun protection.

The ceremony itself took place in the lush garden setting of San Ysidro Ranch. Reports indicate that Billie Eilish, Finneas’s Grammy-winning sister, had the honor of officiating the wedding. Eilish, 24, was seen wearing an off-the-shoulder olive-green gown for her role in the ceremony. Her boyfriend, actor Nat Wolff, 31, was also in attendance.

Notable Guests and Bridal Attire

Beyond the Biebers and Eilish, the wedding guest list featured a constellation of stars. Attendees included actors Nina Dobrev, Kristen Bell, and Dax Shepard, as well as Jason Sudeikis and Emma Chamberlain. The bride, Claudia Sulewski, a beauty influencer, reportedly had four custom Oscar de la Renta dresses created for the weekend’s festivities. These included a bias-cut gown for the rehearsal dinner, a ballgown with a drop-waist bodice for the ceremony, a feathered reception dress, and a pink and dove-gray frock for the after-party, according to Vogue.

The Couple’s Journey to the Altar

Finneas O’Connell, born Finneas Baird O’Connell, has achieved significant acclaim as a singer, songwriter, and producer, most notably for his work with his sister, Billie Eilish. He wore a traditional black tuxedo for his wedding day.

Finneas and Sulewski’s relationship began in 2018 after they met on the exclusive dating app Raya. Finneas has spoken about being immediately captivated by Sulewski, even writing the song “Claudia” within hours of their first meeting. The lyrics of the song reflect his immediate infatuation, with lines such as, “Oh, I’m in trouble now / Come kiss me black and blue / Might last another round / But I’m gonna fall for you.”

Sulewski also served as the inspiration for Finneas’s 2022 song “Mona Lisa, Mona Lisa,” for which she also directed the music video. The couple’s engagement was a meticulously planned surprise. Finneas proposed last October, marking their seventh anniversary.

A Mountainside Proposal

Finneas detailed his elaborate proposal to Sulewski on the program “Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.” He described orchestrating a surprise trip that began with a drive to the airport, leading Sulewski to believe they were embarking on a simple staycation. Instead, they boarded a helicopter bound for a secluded mountain campsite. A private chef accompanied them to prepare a meal before departing, leaving the couple to enjoy a day in nature. It was during this time that Finneas proposed.

He admitted to feeling considerable nervousness leading up to the proposal, particularly in keeping the ring hidden. Finneas recounted how he concealed the ring within socks in his suitcase and had to discreetly secure it when he heard it rattling in its box just before the moment of the proposal. He humorously described his actions as a “ballet pose” as he hid behind a bush to adjust the ring before proceeding.

Wedding Planning and Future Outlook

Sulewski has previously expressed her appreciation for Finneas’s active involvement in their wedding planning. In a YouTube video, she shared her excitement about his input, stating that she did not want to feel as though she were planning the event alone. She noted that Finneas had more opinions than he might have initially anticipated, which she welcomed, as she desired him to feel a sense of ownership over their special day.

While acknowledging the potential for stress in wedding preparations, Sulewski described herself as a “Type B bride,” indicating a generally relaxed approach to the planning process. She expressed a willingness to “go with the flow” and allow the wedding to unfold organically, rather than becoming overly stressed about specific details or schedules.

The union of Finneas O’Connell and Claudia Sulewski marks a significant milestone for the couple, celebrated by close friends, family, and a host of notable figures from the music and entertainment worlds.
