Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann stands firmly behind Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry, who faces an uncertain path to the World Cup after sustaining an adductor strain. Bayern Munich confirmed the injury late Saturday, noting Gnabry will miss an extended period without specifying the duration. Indications suggest a two-to-three-month recovery, potentially sidelining him for the tournament starting June 11.
Nagelsmann’s Message of Encouragement
“I feel very sorry for Serge. This is particularly bitter news at the end of the season, with so many big and important matches coming up,” Nagelsmann stated. The coach, who previously managed Gnabry at Bayern, spoke directly with the 30-year-old forward Saturday after the diagnosis.
“I told him that we in the national team are all behind him,” Nagelsmann added. “We will all support him in the best way possible so that he can get back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
Gnabry’s Strong Season Form
Gnabry has rediscovered his scoring touch this season, thriving in Bayern’s potent attack alongside Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Luis Diaz. In 21 Bundesliga appearances, he has notched eight goals and seven assists, positioning him as a lock for Nagelsmann’s World Cup squad if fully fit.
Bayern Munich advances toward a potential treble, having reached the Champions League semifinals and German Cup semifinals, with a chance to clinch the Bundesliga title as early as Sunday.
