Broncos Linebacker Jonathon Cooper Faces New Charges
Denver Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper has been arrested for a second time within approximately one week. The 28-year-old is facing charges for allegedly violating a protection order that had been issued against him.
Cooper is scheduled to appear in court in Douglas County, Colorado, on Friday morning. This latest arrest follows an earlier incident where both Cooper and his girlfriend were taken into custody on domestic violence charges.
Details of Previous Arrest and Protection Order
Following the initial domestic violence incident, a protection order was placed on Cooper, prohibiting any contact with his girlfriend, identified by authorities as Jade Fiegen. Jail records from Douglas County indicate Cooper was initially held on suspicion of two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal mischief.
According to police reports, officers responded to an incident on June 4 where a physical altercation reportedly occurred between Cooper and Fiegen. Fiegen has alleged that Cooper lifted her and threw her to the floor on three separate occasions and punched a wall near her face. Law enforcement observed minor injuries on Fiegen, including a mark on her neck and a cut on her hand.
Fiegen was also booked on domestic violence charges in connection with the same incident. The altercation was reportedly sparked by allegations of infidelity.
Cooper’s Role with the Broncos
Jonathon Cooper is considered a significant player for the Denver Broncos’ defense, having participated in every game over the past three seasons.
