Stained grout can make even freshly mopped floors look dirty. Cleaning expert Mrs Hinch, known as Sophie Hinchliffe, shares a simple yet effective method to restore grout to its original white shine using a budget-friendly tool.
Mrs Hinch’s Kitchen Floor Transformation
With nearly five million Instagram followers, Mrs Hinch often demonstrates her favorite cleaning hacks. Recently, while tidying her kitchen, she decided to film her grout-cleaning routine after receiving many fan questions.
In an Instagram story, she explained: “Currently sitting on my kitchen floor. I wasn’t going to film this, and then I thought, ‘Do you know what, I will’, because so many people ask me about grout in tiles.”
She demonstrated the process using a damp magic eraser, adding a touch of Elbow Grease for tougher spots. “This is a damp magic eraser. I have got a bit of Elbow Grease as well, just in case it’s a little too stubborn,” she said, wiping a section of grout that instantly brightened.
Sophie added: “Feel like I’ve got a new floor. So if you need to tackle your dirty grout, buy some magic erasers. Look at the difference. Absolutely buzzing.”
How Magic Erasers Work
Made from melamine foam, magic erasers rely on their abrasive texture to lift stains from various surfaces without chemicals. They prove invaluable for restoring grout in kitchens and bathrooms.
Where to Purchase Magic Erasers
Households can buy a pack of three from B&Q for £2, equating to 67p per sponge. Larger options include a 50-pack from Amazon for £7.99.
Alternative Natural Cleaning Methods
For another natural approach, mix baking soda with water into a paste and apply it to stained grout for effective whitening. Steam cleaning also quickly removes stains without scrubbing.
