Rooney Tips Arsenal for Premier League Title After City Everton Draw

Published on

Wayne Rooney predicts Arsenal will win all remaining Premier League games to claim the title, boosted by Manchester City’s 3-3 draw with Everton.

Thrilling Draw Hands Advantage to Arsenal

Manchester City sought to cut Arsenal’s lead to three points but managed only a dramatic 3-3 stalemate at Everton’s stadium. Jeremy Doku struck first for City just before halftime. Everton surged ahead 3-1 in the closing stages with Thierno Barry’s rapid brace and Jake O’Brien’s header. Erling Haaland responded with his 25th league goal of the season, and Doku netted a stunning equalizer to salvage a point.

Arsenal now hold a five-point advantage atop the table, bolstered by a superior goal difference. Pep Guardiola’s side must hope for slip-ups from the leaders to mount a challenge.

Rooney’s Strong Backing for Gunners

The former Manchester United and England captain, a five-time Premier League winner, foresees no further Arsenal stumbles. He expects victories over West Ham, Burnley, and Crystal Palace.

“It was a tough game for Man City, I always thought it was a game they could slip up,” Rooney stated on his BBC podcast. “I think Arsenal win all of their games and that’s why I’ve been strong on this and think they win the league.”

“This was the game I thought Man City might drop points. You never know what’s going to happen but this is what I thought would happen and it could be a really important night in the title race.”

Rooney highlighted Arsenal’s consistency under Mikel Arteta compared to City’s fluctuations. “Arsenal have been consistent with their performances whereas Man City can be pretty up and down. When City are at their best they’re one of the best teams in Europe.”

“But I think Arsenal win the title, I think they win every game. It’s not over but I do think they win every game and I hope they do to be honest.”

He praised Arteta’s approach: “I really like Mikel Arteta, people have criticised Arsenal and the way they play but I like it and how they’ve gone about their business. I just think it’s their year. I hope they win it for Arteta and the work he’s put in over the past five years. It will be huge for him if they win the title.”

“I just think Arsenal are efficient and professional and will win every game now.”

Key Fixtures Ahead

Arsenal face West Ham on Sunday, while Manchester City host Brentford at the Etihad on Saturday.
