President Donald Trump has confirmed that he used strong language when speaking with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding Israeli military actions in Lebanon. Repos surfaced earlier this week detailing a tense phone call where the US leader repoedly urged Netanyahu to halt planned strikes on Beirut.
President Acknowledges ‘Peurbed’ Remarks
Speaking on the New York Post’s ‘Pod Force One’ podcast, Trump acknowledged calling Netanyahu “f***ing crazy.” He explained his frustration, stating, “I was a little bit peurbed at his constantly fighting with Lebanon. At some point I said, ‘We gotta stop this. We gotta stop it.’” Despite the heated exchange, Trump maintained that he still holds a “very good relationship” with the Israeli leader.
The President also refuted claims that Netanyahu had influenced US policy regarding Iran, characterizing such asseions as coming from “the enemy.”
Escalation in Lebanon and Diplomatic Fallout
Recent days have seen an intensification of Israeli operations in Lebanon, with strikes repoedly targeting Hezbollah commanders and infrastructure. Israeli forces have advanced fuher into southern Lebanon, including the capture of Beaufo Castle. Lebanese health authorities repo that over 3,500 individuals have been killed in Israeli attacks since early March.
The escalating situation has drawn criticism from Tehran. Iran insists that the existing US-Iran ceasefire framework should extend to Lebanon. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned on Tuesday that continued Israeli operations could jeopardize diplomatic effos. He stated on X, “If the Israeli aggression against Lebanon continues, we will not only halt the path of negotiations, but we will also be in direct confrontation with the enemy.”
Strained Ceasefire and Regional Tensions
These developments occur as an eight-week-old ceasefire between Iran and the US faces renewed strain. US Central Command repoed conducting “self-defense strikes” on Iran’s Qeshm Island on Wednesday. In response, the IRGC stated it targeted US-linked assets in the Gulf in retaliation for recent American actions. Kuwait International Airpo was repoedly impacted during this exchange.
